It’s that time of year again…!

Thank you for visiting the Rock Blog!  With summer almost at a close, our Rock Bloggers are gearing up for another successful year.  Expect them to begin writing again in the coming weeks.  They will have many stories, tidbits, and insights to share.

If you are interested in learning more about us, I invite you to step onto our campus and see for yourself why “it’s a great time to be at Slippery Rock!”

The Office of Admissions has several visitation programs planned for this fall, including:

  • Saturday Showcases - These large visitation programs open up Slippery Rock University to be discovered by you and your family.  Faculty representatives will be on hand to answer any and all questions you may have about 60+ academic programs on campus.  You will also learn about what it takes to become part of The Rock community from a member of the Admissions staff.  If you haven’t yet been introduced to SRU, this is a great opportunity!
  • Weekday tours – The Office of Admissions provides weekday tours which include a presentation from the Admissions staff and a walking tour of campus with one of our student tour guides.

Please click here to find out more information about these programs and to register for your visit to campus.  If you have any additional questions or want to talk to a member of the Office of Admissions, please give us a ring at (800) 929-4778.

Be sure to check back to the Rock Blog next week to catch up on the goings-on of our students and our campus!

A Few More Weeks of Summer!

Thank you for checking back regularly to Slippery Rock University’s Rock Blog.  We hope you can use this blog for any of the following:

  • to learn more about a student’s life in college;
  • to read all about the happenings at The Rock;
  • to gauge if you would jive (do people even still use that word?) with the Slippery Rock community; or
  • to simply be entertained and, perhaps, procrastinate a little bit.  (Don’t worry: your secret is safe.)

On our end, we’ve had an amazing summer here on campus.  With three separate academic sessions, six Orientations to welcome the newest members of our SRU family, the rennovation of our science hall, and the installation of a new information system to better serve our students, it has certainly not been a sleepy summer!  And that doesn’t even include the ton of visitors (an exact measurement ;-) ) that came to The Rock for Summer Preview Visit Days, Career Days, and all of our daily visits.

In all, we’ve gotten a lot accomplished these past few months.  Now, as we gear up for the start of the Fall semester, we are anxious to see all of our students on campus once again.  Check back in a couple weeks to once again enjoy the musings and adventures of our own Rock Bloggers!  It’s like the Real Housewives of Slippery Rock, except better.

“Summer break” does not translate to “break in the action”

Thank you for visiting the Rock Blog!  With summer here, our Rock Bloggers are traveling, working, reconnecting with friends, taking classes…and looking forward to the start of the fall semester.

During this interim period, updates to the Rock Blog will pause, but don’t take that to mean action on campus has paused, too.  If you are interested in learning more about us, I invite you to step onto our campus and see for yourself why “it’s a great time to be at Slippery Rock!”

The Office of Admissions has several visitation programs planned for this summer, including:

  • Summer Career Days – These four events are tailored for students interested in careers in Education, Computers and Technology, Sport Management, and Health.  Faculty representatives from these departments will give overviews of their respective programs and on career options with each field.  This is followed by a tour of campus given by an experienced upperclassman who can answer all of your questions regaring life at The Rock.

Be sure to check back to the Rock Blog in September to catch up on the goings-on of our students and our campus!
